Module 03

Responsible AI Adoption

Build the governance layer that makes AI adoption sustainable. This module covers policy creation, bias and hallucination awareness, human oversight patterns, intellectual property navigation, and incident response. Everything your organization needs to adopt AI responsibly and defend those decisions when it matters.

What participants will be able to do

  • Draft a comprehensive AI usage policy tailored to your organization's size, industry, and risk tolerance.
  • Identify common bias and hallucination patterns in AI outputs and apply practical verification techniques before those outputs cause harm.
  • Design human-in-the-loop workflows that maintain meaningful oversight as AI usage scales, not rubber-stamp review processes.
  • Make defensible decisions about IP and copyright in the current unsettled legal landscape.
  • Execute an incident response plan when AI failures occur, including notification and remediation steps.

What we cover

Building an AI usage policy

A policy that says "use AI responsibly" is not a policy. We walk through the anatomy of a policy that actually gets followed: approved tool lists, data classification rules, prohibited uses, human review requirements, and incident reporting. You'll draft yours during the session.

Bias & hallucination awareness

AI produces confident-sounding wrong answers and its confidence level is indistinguishable whether the output is correct or fabricated. We cover the four hallucination types your team needs to recognize and the practical detection techniques that catch errors before they reach clients or decisions.

Human-in-the-loop patterns

A human who approves 200 AI-generated documents per day without reading them is not "in the loop." We teach the difference between meaningful oversight and performative review, how to design checkpoints that actually get used, and how to prevent the review fatigue that turns oversight into rubber-stamping.

Intellectual property & copyright

The legal landscape around AI-generated content is genuinely unsettled. We cover copyright ownership, AI-assisted code and open-source licensing risks, training data and creator rights, and disclosure guidelines so your team can make defensible decisions now rather than waiting for legal clarity that may take years.

Incident response for AI failures

AI failures are not hypothetical. They are happening now at organizations that deployed without incident response plans. We cover incident classification, the critical first-hour response, root cause analysis, and the notification obligations that differ by regulation. Your team will leave with a ready-to-use playbook.

Hands-on: policy draft

Draft an AI usage policy tailored to your organization using our structured template. Stress-test it against real scenarios, identify gaps, and leave with a document ready for legal review. Most teams discover their biggest policy gaps aren't where they expected.

Deliverables

AI Usage Policy Template

A complete, ten-section policy template covering purpose and scope, approved tools, data classification, prohibited uses, human review requirements, attribution, incident reporting, training, and review cadence. Designed to be completable in a day and maintainable in an hour per quarter.

AI Incident Response Playbook

A ready-to-use playbook with a first-60-minutes checklist, response procedures by incident type, a post-incident review template, and a regulatory notification reference covering GDPR, HIPAA, and CCPA timelines. Keep it accessible to anyone who might be first to identify an issue.
